Tasmania
Hobart
Hobart is the start of most Tasmanian circuits. The waterfront, Salamanca and kunanyi / Mount Wellington are the first day. Port Arthur and the Coal River Valley are close enough for a day out, while Freycinet, Cradle Mountain and Strahan need their own stages. The island is not connected by road to the mainland. Spirit of Tasmania sails between Geelong and Devonport, and that sailing is a booking of its own.
Suggested time: 2–3 nights inside a two-week island loop.
