Alice Springs
Alice Springs is the Stuart Highway’s central town and the base for the West MacDonnell Ranges. Anzac Hill is the short free lookout over town. Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm sit west on a sealed road. Uluru is not a day trip — Yulara is a long drive south via Erldunda, and the sealed road goes there and back to the highway. Fuel, water and heat are the practical limits, not the sightseeing list.
Suggested time: 2–3 nights.
